Pre-Construction Termite Treatment:
Building a Termite-Free Future with Zero Pest™
Building a new home or commercial property is a significant investment. Don’t let silent destroyers like termites compromise its structural integrity and value from day one. Pre-Construction Termite Treatment is the most critical and effective measure you can take to safeguard your property against subterranean termites, providing a long-lasting protective barrier even before the first brick is laid.
At Zero Pest™, we specialize in comprehensive pre-construction termite solutions that integrate cutting-edge termiticides with meticulous application techniques, ensuring your foundation is protected for decades to come.
Why Pre-Construction Termite Treatment is Essential:
Subterranean termites live in the soil and build mud tubes to access wooden structures. If left unprotected, new buildings offer an easy entry point. Pre-construction treatment:
- Creates a Protective Barrier: A continuous chemical barrier is formed in the soil directly beneath and around the foundation, preventing termites from reaching the building.
- Prevents Future Infestations: It acts as a proactive defense, significantly reducing the likelihood of a termite problem for many years.
- Saves Costs: Investing in pre-construction treatment is far more cost-effective than dealing with extensive damage and post-construction remediation later.
- Ensures Long-Term Peace of Mind: You can build and live with confidence, knowing your property is secured against these destructive pests.
Zero Pest™’s Advanced Pre-Construction Treatment Options (IPM Principles Applied):
Our approach focuses on creating an effective, durable barrier while considering environmental factors. We offer several industry-leading termiticides, applied by our expert technicians according to precise dosing and safety protocols.
Our treatment ensures a minimum 10-year guarantee against subterranean termite infestation, provided that the treated barrier remains undisturbed.
Here are the primary termiticide options we apply:
Option 1: Imidacloprid 20SL
- Type: Non-repellent liquid termiticide. Termites unknowingly enter the treated zone, carry the active ingredient back to the colony, and transfer it to other termites, leading to widespread elimination.
- Dosage: 1 liter of Imidacloprid 20SL covers a 672 – 1000 SFT (Square Feet) plinth area.
- Benefits: Highly effective with a “transfer effect” that targets the entire colony.
Option 2: Fipronil 50 SC
- Type: Non-repellent liquid termiticide with a delayed action and “transfer effect.” Like Imidacloprid, termites cannot detect Fipronil, allowing them to carry it into the colony.
- Dosage: 1 liter of Fipronil 50 SC covers a 500 to 800 SFT (Square Feet) plinth area.
- Benefits: Provides robust, long-lasting control with excellent colony elimination properties.
Option 3: Chlorpyrifos 20 EC or 50 EC (Used with Caution & Transparency)
- Type: Repellent liquid termiticide. This chemical creates a barrier that termites actively avoid.
- Dosage:
- Chlorpyrifos 20 EC: 1 liter covers 50-80 SFT (Square Feet) plinth area.
- Chlorpyrifos 50 EC: 1 liter covers 125 to 200 SFT (Square Feet) plinth area.
- Important Note: While still available and effective, Chlorpyrifos has been banned in many developed countries due to environmental and health concerns. At Zero Pest™, we inform clients about this and recommend Option 1 or 2 as our preferred, more environmentally conscious choices for long-term termite management. We only use Chlorpyrifos if specifically requested by the client after full disclosure and understanding of its limitations.
Our Application Process:
Our pre-construction termite treatment follows stringent protocols:
- Site Preparation: The soil on the plinth area is prepared and leveled before treatment.
- Perimeter & Foundation Treatment: The chosen termiticide solution is evenly applied to the entire excavated trench (for foundations) and across the entire plinth area before the concrete slab is poured.
- Backfill Treatment: As the soil is backfilled around the foundation, it is also treated to create a continuous vertical barrier.
- Pipe & Expansion Joint Treatment: All pipe entries and expansion joints are specifically treated to prevent termite access.
